Cremorne

Situated between Mosman and Neutral Bay, on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, Cremorne is about 6km from Sydney’s CBD, 5 minutes to beautiful Balmoral Beach and just a 15 minute drive to Manly Beach.

The suburb is predominantly residential, with its commercial area centred along Military Road, around Cremorne Junction.

Cremorne Junction boasts a variety of fashion boutiques, restaurants, cafes and shops, leisure facilities, a supermarket, a high-rise hotel, and the historic Hayden Orpheum – a 6 cinema complex which opened in 1935, and has since been restored to replicate all original art deco fittings, colour schemes and lighting. It has become a local icon. “The Hayden Orpheum is a sparkling cinema treasure. The art deco decor alone is worth the trip, with terrazzo floors, exquisite glass light fittings, fragrant fresh flowers, velvet curtains and seats,” (The Sydney Morning Herald, September 2007).

The north end of Cremorne is tranquil and leafy with water views to Northbridge and beyond to Middle Harbour, making it a fantastic location for families, with shops, schools and transport conveniently located, and a cycle track and Primrose Park at the doorstep.

The south end of Cremorne is a charming suburb facing the stunning Sydney Harbour and city skyline, but still with easy access to Cremorne Junction.

Cremorne Point, located on the peninsula and offering dazzling views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, is an exclusive and sought-after area, with native bushland surroundings and foreshore access, providing the ultimate New Years Eve vantage point. Cremorne Reserve stretches around the entire shoreline of Cremorne Point and provides unrivalled public access to the harbour foreshore.

All transport to and from Cremorne is by road or water. Military road connects Cremorne to Neutral Bay and the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the west, and Mosman to the east. Cremorne and Cremorne Point are well serviced in terms of public transport, with buses running from local stops frequently and ferries operating from nearby Clifton Gardens, Taronga Park, Mosman and Cremorne wharves to Circular Quay.

Cremorne is an appealing suburb as it offers the best of both worlds – the convenience of the inner city, along with the quiet parks and superb water views of an outer suburb. The close proximity of North Sydney and Neutral Bay means residents can enjoy many of the activities of a large city, without having to cross the harbour.
